WALL

Generally the art in exhibition spaces can be viewed as a temporary resident―pictures hung on walls and objects choreographed in spaces for some period of time until new pictures and objects take their places. But there’s another long tradition of invasive placement, an embedding into the architecture of the cathedral and, more recently, into the walls of the museum or the white cube.

WALL celebrates and undermines the limits of the gallery wall―recasting the gallery’s inhabitants from peaceful participants in a timeshare paradigm into somewhat unruly tenants whose intent is to leave an indelible mark on the space that acts as their host.

Participating artists include: Sol LeWitt, Nari Ward, Jim Hodges, A. Balasubramaniam, Sarah Cain, Sean Foley, Karin Sander, Jennifer Steinkamp, Mary Temple.

Curator: Michael Goodson
