Rebekah Curtis Barbatos' (2020) work breaks tradition by challenging the viewer to touch and interact with her paintings through the sculptural form of the book. Inspired by fabric books created traditionally for children, Barbatos plays with viewer participation- the smaller book is aimed at individual experience, while the oversized nature of the larger book necessitates that viewers work together when turning the pages, thereby illustrating that some tasks cannot be undertaken alone.
