What Is Real?

What Is Real?

Ohio Representational Art Collective (ORAC) is a group of Ohio-based artists who practice their arts in the style and tradition of Realism. “What is Real? – Ohio Representational Art Collective Inaugural Exhibition” is the group’s first formal exhibition since its inception in 2022. This collection focuses specifically on the human figures and portraits. In order to demonstrate the breadth of figurative realism, we are showcasing 12 artists who utilize a variety of mediums and approaches. All of the artists featured in this show are masters of their crafts. They possess impressive skills, unique concepts and sophisticated execution.

Realism in the field of figurative art has been a major component throughout the history of visual arts. Figurative art is our universal language that connects us all as well as a way to express thoughts and feelings that are common in all humanity.

There has been a global upsurge of figurative realist expressions in various artistic fields in recent years. Many artists all over the globe are revisiting this timeless subject and trying to breathe in a new life from their contemporary perspectives. In the State of Ohio, through our personal networks and social media, we have become aware of the presence of many talented figurative realists. We are here to shed light on this renewed interest, promote the realist artists of our community, respond to the enthusiasm for figurative realism in our own ways, and to present an opportunity for all of us to reflect on the meaning of realist art in the world today.

During the period of the show, we are going to conduct three workshops related to the theme of the show for the public to be part of.
