Stitch

Seen from a distance, Stitch might be mistaken for an abstract painting exhibition, and in a sense it is. However, the voice of the exhibition focuses on the enunciation of the fibers of a thing instead of the paint. Works in the show utilize sewing, weaving, knitting, hooking, embroidering, and simply exposing the construction of a garment. Stitch features a diverse group of international contemporary artists who share a love for creating haptic and often austere works that force us to slow down and contemplate.

Artists in the exhibition include Polly Apfelbaum, Louise Bourgeois, Simon Fujiwara, Channing Hansen, Alana Iturralde, Ruth Laskey, Oscar Murillo, Paulina Olowska, Frances Trombly, and Brent Wadden. Stitch runs Aug. 22 through Jan. 2.

Curator: Ian Ruffino
