CCAD Faculty Triennial

Beeler Gallery will be host to the new CCAD Faculty Triennial Exhibition, a juried selection of work by faculty members at Columbus College of Art & Design. This exhibition relaunches the tradition of a faculty exhibition as CCAD celebrates the college’s 140th anniversary. The exhibition is curated by Lucy I. Zimmerman, Assistant Curator of Exhibitions at the Wexner Center for the Arts.

Artists: Joshua Butts, Kelly Devore, Jessie Horning, Danielle Julian Norton, John Kortlander, Kelly Malec-Kosak, Mike Olenick, Nate Ricciuto, Tim Rietenbach, Bruce H. Robinson, Michael Karl Stickrod, Julie Taggart, Kaname Takada, Samuel Wagner, and Liz Roberts [in collaboration with Elena Harvey Collins.

On Thursday, Sept. 5, at 11:30 a.m., Assistant Professor Joshua Butts, PhD, Department Head of Writing, Literature & Philosophy, reads from his “rural imagination poems,” including one, The Rural Imagination of Landscape and Genre, that he wrote in collaboration with/response to two paintings on view in the exhibition by Julie Taggart, Dean of the School of Studio Arts.

As Editor-in-Chief of THE SEEN, Stephanie will speak about arts writing in the Midwest as a site for connectivity, as well as her wide-ranging curatorial work as Director / Curator of Chicago Manual Style, which operates out of a residential garage, and Artistic Director at EXPO CHICAGO.

Chroma: Best of CCAD

Each spring, Chroma: Best of CCAD takes place at Beeler Gallery and throughout Columbus College of Art & Design. This year, it coincides with the 140th year anniversary of CCAD.

At Beeler Gallery, a selection of works spanning different mediums from students in the Fine Arts Department and highlights of thesis exhibitions will be on view. Throughout the campus, works from each of CCAD majors as well as our CORE programs and first-year MFA and MDes students will be on view.

Each spring, Beeler Gallery hosts Columbus College of Art & Design’s Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibitions. The 2019 iteration, Replacing the Sun?, takes place in the atrium and inside Beeler Gallery. This year, the candidates of Master of Design in Integrative Design will present their thesis during the opening night in the Auditorium on Friday, April 5, 6-7 p.m.

PRESS: Columbus Alive

Beeler Gallery presents On Board(hers), an all-women dance performance based on the recorded voices of 15 female immigrants’ testimonies and choreographed by Lucille Toth, Assistant Professor of French at The Ohio State University Newark campus. Two open rehearsals take place at Beeler Gallery on Dec. 11, 2018, and March 28, 2019, both followed by Q&A with the performers and refreshments.
